Project Statement

For this project, I created two TikTok filters that utilize 3D-rendered assets made in Blender, AI-generated imagery, and enhanced adjustments in Effect House. The filters, Goblin Lair and Cosmic Chain, evoke distinct fantasy and sci-fi aesthetics. Each of them immerses the user in a playful, otherworldly realm.

Goblin Lair transforms the user into a goblin-like character, perfect for the Halloween season. Green, oily goblin ears replace the user’s real ears and wiggle gently to give a lifelike feel. The subject’s face is layered with a scaly, green mask, and their eyes turn a sinister red, completing the eerie transformation. The setting, an ominous underground dungeon illuminated by torchlight and a radioactive green glow, enhances the fantasy-inspired horror vibe. This filter draws on my fascination with creatures like goblins and elves from The Lord of the Rings, creating a creepy yet whimsical experience.

Cosmic Chain offers a contrasting, futuristic vibe. A chunky, iridescent chain necklace appears around the user’s neck, swaying slightly to simulate the weight of real jewelry. The user’s eyes are rendered a luminous white, and their hair appears bleached, adding an alien quality that evokes celestial beings. The backdrop features a vibrant nebula, creating an astronomical, techno-colored atmosphere with a sci-fi aesthetic. Inspired by extraterrestrial imagery, this filter invites the user into a cosmic transformation.

Together, these filters explore themes of fantasy and escapism, blending 3D modeling and digital effects to reimagine the user within fantastical and otherworldly spaces. Each filter transforms identity, allowing users to inhabit playful, eerie, and surreal personas in the digital realm.
